Art in the Middle is an independent magazine for contemporary art, design and culture across the Gulf and the wider region — telling the stories the international press keeps missing.
A decade ago, covering the region's exhibitions meant waiting for a foreign critic to fly in for a weekend. We started Art in the Middle to close that gap — a home publication written by people who live here, know the galleries, and turn up on opening night.
Today we publish weekly across art and design, culture, community and our own Sketchy Supper club — pairing rigorous reporting with the warmth of a scene that has always run on hospitality. From Art Dubai to AlUla, from museum openings in Abu Dhabi to studios in Riyadh, we follow the work and the people making it.
“We wanted the magazine we wished existed when we first started going to shows here.”
A weekly newsletter and a promise: cover the Gulf art scene from the inside.
Our supper club began, and readership passed the ten-thousand mark.
Media partner at World Art Dubai; desks in Riyadh and Abu Dhabi.
40,000 readers, 30+ cultural partners, and our first collectors' edition.
No gallery, fair or brand decides our coverage. Partnerships are labelled; opinions are our own.
We write from inside the Gulf, not about it from a distance — with the context only proximity gives.
Serious about the work, warm about the people. Both, at once, on every page.
